Biography

Born in Scammon, Kansas, Frederick McMullin played in the minor leagues from 1912-1915.  His debut in the majors was with the Detroit Tigers on August 27, 1914.  He played shortstop with the Tigers for a year then went back to the minor leagues for another year.  In 1916, he joined the Chicago White Sox.  His major accomplishment while on the team was winning the World Series with the team in 1917.

McMullin became a part of the plan to throw the 1919 World Series against the Reds when he heard some players talking.  He threatened to report those players unless they included him in the conspiracy.  He received $5,000.

McMullin's last appearance as a Chicago White Sox was on September 20, 1920.  He was then banned from organized baseball for life.
